Kashima-Kawasaki match halted

A top-of-the-table battle between leaders Kashima Antlers and Kawasaki Frontale was halted because of heavy rain when Kawasaki were leading 3-1. North Korean international Chong Tese scored a get-ahead goal twice in the 19th and 32nd minutes, while Brazilian striker Marquinhos pulled one back for Kashima in the 30th minute.

Kawasaki's Brazilian forward Juninho added another in the 66th minute before the game was stopped 29 minutes into the second half. The game will be played later from 0-0.

Kashima kept the lead with 50 points, ahead of Kawasaki, Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Shimizu S-Pulse on 43 points, and Gamba Osaka on 42 points.

Hiroshima defeated Yokohama Marinos 3-2 with Yosuke Kashiwagi scoring twice in the 36th and 46th minutes, while Shimizu whitewashed Omiya Ardija 1-0.

Midfielder Takahiro Futagawa scored twice to lead Osaka to a 3-2 win over Vissel Kobe.

In other games, a Brazilian-Korean duo of Diego and Kim Seng-Yong helped Kyoto Purple Sanga beat Tokyo 2-1, while Kashiwa Reysol upset Nagoya Grampus 3-2. Albirex Niigata edged past JEF United Chiba 1-0.
