Hertha Berlin's French defender Christopher Samba is set to join Premiership side Blackburn on loan, the German club announced on Thursday.

"It's a serious proposal," Hertha's general manager Dieter Hoeness said on Thursday from the club's training camp in Marbella.

The 22-year-old joined Hertha in 2005 but the Congo-born player has struggled to make much of an impact with only eight first team appearances, each time as a substitute, this season.

Samba, under contract until 2008, is set to move to Ewood Park on Saturday.
