Struggling J-League club Oita Trinita have fired Brazilian coach Pericles Raimundo Oliveira Chamusca, reacting to the team's dreadful record this season.
Oita suffered a 14th straight defeat in the league on Sunday and have one win, one draw and 15 defeats so far, leaving them bottom of the 18-team first division.
Oita won the J-League Cup last season to qualify for the Pan Pacific tournament in Los Angeles in February, but struggled this season due to injuries of regular players.
Chamusca, 43, joined Oita in September 2005 and the team managed fourth place last year, their highest finish in the league.
Ranko Popovic of Austria will replace him. Popovic had worked as an assistant coach for fellow J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
