Slovak international Karol Kisel has become new coach Vitezslav Lavicka's first signing at Sydney FC, the Australian A-League club has revealed.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who has signed for a year, spent ten seasons playing in the Czech Republic, including the last four seasons with Sparta Prague, and he won 23 international caps.

"Karol is a highly regarded player and was a priority signing for Vitja, who coached him at both Slovan Liberec and Sparta Prague," said Sydney FC chief executive Stefan Kamasz.

"He has a wealth of experience and can play on either the left or right of midfield, and will no doubt prove an invaluable asset to the team."

Kisel will arrive on 20 April, shortly after Czech Lavicka and his assistant, Michal Zach, begin preparations for the 2009/10 A-League season, which will begin in August.
