Mputu named Nations Championship' MVP

Congo DR striker Mabi Mputu has been named as the best player of the maiden African Nations Championship in Côte d'Ivoire.

Mputu claimed just one of the seven Congo DR goals scored en route to victory in the competition for home-based stars, but created several others to top an African Football Confederation (CAF) poll.

Mputu was among four Congolese included in the team of the tournament, while runners-up Ghana supplied three and bronze medalists Zambia and fourth-placed Senegal provided two each.
