Adelaide United have signed young Blackburn Rovers midfielder Rostyn Griffiths as cover for the Australian A-League finals series, starting this weekend.
Griffiths, 20, who has been playing for the English Premier League side's reserves, replaces injured Jason Spagnuolo.
United Coach Aurelio Vidmar said he was impressed by Griffiths while he was scouting Australians playing overseas.
Griffiths' appointment in Adelaide will initially be for a four-week stint, with the possibility of a further two-year extension.
"He's a big lad, he's got very good technique, is someone who likes to get forward, a box-to-box type of player and that's certainly what we've been missing over the last few weeks," Vidmar said.
Adelaide play Melbourne Victory in the first leg of the major semi-final at home on Saturday.
