Los Angeles Galaxy were held to a 2-2 draw by San Jose Earthquakes in Friday night's only game in Major League Soccer. San Jose led twice, first when Shea Salinas played in Chris Wondolowski to finish from a narrow angle as the offside flag stayed down.

Gyasi Zardes equalised after Robbie Keane's shot was blocked but Matias Perez Garcia quickly restored the Quakes' lead after Wondolowski's deft flick. Omar Gonzalez stooped to head in Stefan Ishizaki's corner early in the second half and earn the Galaxy a point which lifts them ahead of FC Dallas into third place in the Western Conference, who play the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.

San Jose moved off the bottom but are level on points with new basement club Chivas USA.
