The LA Galaxy were held 1-1 at home by Chivas USA as the MLS Western Conference's bottom-placed club frustrated the four-time MLS Cup winners on Sunday.

With captain Robbie Keane away on Republic of Ireland duty, the Galaxy's attack was blunted and they fell behind to an Erick Torres goal in the 20th minute. Gyasi Zardes headed a leveller in the 35th minute.

Eastern Conference leaders the New England Revolution were beaten 2-0 at home by the mid-table New York Red Bulls.

Eric Alexander fired New York ahead in the 17th minute, and Peguy Luyindula sealed the win after 76 minutes.
