Kansas, New York remain top with wins

Sporting Kansas City hung on to top spot in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer with a 2-0 win over Columbus Crew on Sunday.

Jacob Peterson opened the scoring in the 10th minute and Claudio Bieler sealed the win in stoppage time after the Crew had Wil Trapp sent off 10 minutes from time.

New York Red Bulls, level on points having played two games more, kept pace with a 1-0 win over the 10 men of FC Dallas in Texas.

Dallas had Je-Vaughn Watson sent off 10 minutes into the contest, with Bradley Wright-Phillips eventually settling it in the 71st minute.
