Earthquake wait goes on

San Jose Earthquakes remained winless in 2014 after a 1-1 draw against the Eastern Conference-leading Columbus Crew on Sunday.

Federico Higuain turned home a neat low shot from Waylon Francis' assist - his fourth goal of the MLS season - just before half-time to put the Crew ahead, but Chris Wondolowski headed home Shea Salinas' corner six minutes after the interval to restore parity.

Both teams hit the woodwork in the second half but there were no further goals, meaning the Quakes stayed adrift at the foot of the Western Conference and the Crew moved one point clear of Toronto FC atop the East.
