Atletico Madrid's title winners celebrated by their fans on an open-top bus tour around the Spanish capital on Sunday night.A dramatic 1-1 draw at Barcelona on Saturday earned Atleti the most hard-fought of Primera Division crowns, and they made sure the occasion was marked.
Thousands of fans lined the streets of Madrid as the squad left the Vicente Calderon, travelling to their end point of the Neptune Fountain.
Coach Diego Simeone addressed the crowd saying: "I would like to thank the players, without their effort this would not be possible." Also, thank the people who accompany us, those who participate and are not seen and make this possible.
"It's not only the league, it's something much more important, what these players communicate... If you believe and work, you can."
Captain Gabi also took the microphone to add: "This is an honour. An award for all the work and sacrifice and for the love of the colours that can't be bought."
Atleti have one final assignment this season, against city rivals Real in the UEFA Champions League final this weekend. They wait for news on the fitness of Diego Costa, with their leading scorer having left the field against Barcelona in tears after suffering a hamstring injury.
