Barcelona defender Marc Bartra has extended his deal with the Spanish champions until 2017, the club confirmed.
Bartra, who turned 23 on Wednesday, has become an important member of coach Gerardo Martino's squad this season making 14 appearances. The centre-back's buyout clause will also be increased to €25m.
Bartra's previous deal had been due to expire in June, which had reportedly attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs. However, having dispelled any doubts over his future, Bartra's next target could be making it into Spain's 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ squad.
He was called up for the first time by Vicente del Bosque for the friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa in November.
