Spanish top flight club Atletico Madrid have signed Gregorio Manzano as their coach for next season, eight years after he last held the post.
Manzano replaces Quique Sanchez Flores who quit at the end of last season. "Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Gregorio Manzano to become the new coach of Atletico for next season 2011-2012," the club confirmed in a brief statement on its website.
The 55-year-old has coached numerous Spanish clubs in a managerial career that began in 1983. He was last in charge of Atletico in the 2003-2004 season. He returns to the club from Sevilla, which refused to offer him a new contract.
Last season, Atletico finished seventh in the Primera Liga, 38 points behind champions Barcelona.
