Uruguay's FIFA World Cup™ star Diego Forlan has resumed training with his Atletico Madrid teammates after suffering an ankle injury last month and could be in line to return to the field on Monday.
The 31-year-old striker was taken off in the 14th minute of Atletico's 1-0 Copa del Rey match against Espanyol on 22 December after suffering a sprained ankle.
"Diego Forlan rejoined the squad after the untimely ankle sprain left him unavailable for the last few weeks," the club said on its website. "The Uruguayan's training session began and ended without incident."
Atletico face Hercules in a premier division match on Monday.
Forlan has twice won the award as the Spanish Primera Liga's top scorer and twice won the European Golden Boot. He was also awarded the Golden Ball as the best player of the 2010 FIFA World Cup after grabbing five goals in tournament, in which Uruguay finished fourth.
