Villarreal hit by Senna injury

UEFA EURO 2008-winning midfielder Marcos Senna is set to be on the sidelines for up to 10 weeks because of a right thigh injury, his Spanish club Villarreal announced on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Brazilian-born naturalised Spaniard - who played a pivotal role in Spain's European cup of nations win - suffered the injury in the Copa del Rey Last 16 first leg 0-0 draw with Valencia a week ago.

Senna, capped 27 times but who failed to make the squad for the FIFA World Cup™ finals this year, returned to Brazil for Christmas and underwent medical tests there which revealed the extent of the injury.
