Real Madrid will be without Sergio Canales for three to four weeks after the Spanish midfielder sprained his ankle during training, the club said today.
"An MRI peformed on Sergio Canales on Friday revealed a Grade II external lateral ligament sprain of the left ankle," the club said in a statement.
"The player is expected to miss three to four weeks depending on his progress."
Canales, considered the revelation of the Spanish league last season, was out of action for almost three weeks earlier this season after an ankle injury in September.
Real are in second place in the league with 32 points, two behind Barcelona, following a 5-0 pasting by their arch-rivals on Monday.
