Ross County won promotion to the Scottish Premier League for the first time today after rivals Dundee United could only draw 1-1 with Queen of the South.
Dundee needed a victory in order to make County wait a little longer to clinch the First Division title, and they looked to be on course for a win after Stephen O'Donnell fired them ahead. But Queen of the South defender John Potter struck an 82nd-minute equaliser to snatch a draw which left Dundee 14 points behind the leaders with four games left.
Ross County have five games remaining and can now celebrate the title against Ayr United at Somerset Park on Wednesday. It completes a remarkable rise through the ranks for County, who only gained admission to the Scottish League in 1994.
