The defending champions claimed a 1-0 win over Terek Grozny thanks to Zoran Tosic's fourth-minute strike while Zenit won 2-1 at Ural.

Danny put the visitors ahead in the fifth minute but Gerson Acevedo grabbed an equaliser nine minutes before the break only for Jose Salomon Rondon to seal the win 16 minutes from time.

In the day's other games, Dinamo Moscow returned to winning ways as goals from Christopher Samba and Kevin Kuranyi handed them a 2-0 win over FC Ufa while Arsenal Tula and Rubin Kazan shared a goalless draw.
