CSKA Moscow could not round off their title-winning season with victory as they went down to a 3-0 defeat at Rostov in the Russian Premier League.

CSKA had already wrapped up the title but they would have hoped to end on a better note and would have been confident going to Rostov given their hosts had won only six games all season.

However, CSKA found themselves two goals behind at half-time thanks to strikes by Dmitri Poloz and Kanga Guelor. Timofey Kalachev added a third ten minutes after the break.

Second-placed Zenit St Petersburg were also facing lowly opposition in Amkar Perm but they could not find a breakthrough as the match finished goalless.

Anzhi Makhachkala had already wrapped up third place, and a spot in the UEFA Europa League, and they ended the season with a 1-0 defeat at Kuban Krasnodar. Ivelin Popov scored the only goal midway through the first half.

Spartak Moscow ended on a winning note with a 2-0 win over Alania Vladikavkaz who played all but six minutes with ten men. Dacosta Goore was given a straight red card for the already-relegated visitors and the hosts went on to complete the win with goals by Sergey Bryzgalov and Zhano Ananidze.

Rubin and Terek win
Rubin Kazan beat Krasnodar 2-0 with Roman Eremenko and Bebras Natcho on target, Dinamo Moscow and Volga Nizhny Novgorod shared a goalless draw while Terek Grozny beat Krylya Sovetov 4-1.

Ezechiel N'Douassel put Grozny ahead with a penalty four minutes before half-time. Luis Caballero levelled only for three goals in 12 minutes for the hosts. Benoit Angbwa scored an own goal with Antonio Ferreira to extend the lead five minutes later with Kanu rounding off the scoring.

In the remaining match, Lokomotiv Moscow beat Mordovia Saransk 2-1. Alexander Samedov put Lokomotiv ahead with a penalty after 18 minutes with Dame N'Doye doubling the lead seven minutes later. Andrey Pazin scored a consolation in the last minute.
