Dinamo Moscow failed to close the gap on the top two in the Russian Premier League as they were beaten 2-1 at Anzhi Makhachkala.
Third-placed Dinamo remain five points behind Zenit St Petersburg in second after goals from Mbark Boussoufa and Alexander Prudnikov gave Anzhi the win with former Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin nettomg the only reply.
Dinamo's city rivals Spartak Moscow fell to fifth after they were held to a 1-1 draw against Spartak Nalchik. Arsen Goshokov gave Nalchik the lead before Artem Dzjuba equalised in the 53rd minute.
Volga Nizhny Novgorod remain just outside the relegation zone after they suffered a 5-0 loss at Kuban Krasnodar.
A brace from Lacina Traore gave the hosts a 2-0 lead at half-time and the rout was completed in the second half with goals from Gheorghe Bucur, Mikhail Komkov and Sergei Davydov.
Lokomotiv Moscow came out on top in the mid-table clash against Krasnodar with Russian international Dennis Glushakov scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory.
