Steaua Bucharest win Romanian title

Steaua Bucharest have won the Romanian league title for the 25th time, clinching the crown by beating Universitatea Cluj 1-0.

Thursday night's victory left Steaua, also winners of last year's title, ten points clear of their nearest challenger Petrolul Ploiesti with only three matches remaining.

Coached by Laurentiu Reghecampf, the club are also in the running for the Romanian Cup and will compete in the final on 23 May against Astra Giurgiu.

The league crown also clears the way for them to compete for a place in the UEFA Champions League group stages next season.

The Romanian side won the old European Cup in 1986.
