French coach Bruno Metsu, who coached the Qatari national side until last month, has signed for Al-Gharafa until 2013, the Qatar club confirmed today.
"It's a good challenge. The group is good and interesting and we can achieve something," said Metsu of the 2005 Qatar champions.
Metsu, 57, will team up with former Lyon player Juninho and Amara Diane, who previously played for Paris Saint Germain.
He led Qatar to the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup, but a defeat for the hosts to eventual champions Japan was enough to see Metus out of his job in the following weeks.
He also masterminded Senegal's shock perfromances in the 2002 FIFA World Cup™, where he similarly reached the quarter-final stage after beating holders France in the opening game.
