Qatar League newcomers Lekhwiya finished the first leg of this year's competition on top of the standings after beating Al Rayyan 3-1 in the 11th round of matches today.
Ivory Coast striker Bakari Koni opened the scoring from a penalty after eight minutes and his compatriot Aruna Dindane doubled Lekhwiya's advantage from another spot-kick 10 minutes later.
Lekhwiya added a third goal on 82 minutes through Mohamad Razzaq to seal their eighth win this year, with Al Rayyan's late consolation coming two minutes later via Abdulrahman Al Ali.
Elsewhere, Al Arabi defeated Al Khor 1-0 thanks to a 39th-minute goal from Salman Issa, while finally today, Qatar SC and Al Siliya battled out a 2-2 draw.
Qatar SC opened the scoring through Brazilian Marcinho on 22 minutes only for Al Siliya to restore parity through their Bahraini midfielder Faouzi Aiash five minutes before the break.
Al Siliya took the lead three minutes into the second half through Burkina Faso forward Momouni Dagano but Qatar SC nicked a point thanks to Sebastian Soria's strike 10 minutes from time.
