FC Twente defender Douglas wants to leave Dutch football this summer and admits Newcastle United are one of several interested parties.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has been with Twente since 2007, but now looks set for a move to pastures new.
"I have spent five years [at Twente] and have done my best for the club," he told NuSport. "I have won the title, the cup - it's time for a next step."
Douglas revealed Newcastle were not the only club who had made contact, though, adding: "Five clubs are interested and there's a bigger club than Newcastle. I cannot still say anything about it, but I hope soon to have my new club."
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to have shown an interest in Douglas, who has also been linked with a move to Eredivisie champions Ajax. However, the Twente centre-back has no interest in a move to another Dutch club.
"I have personally been in touch with Ajax and immediately said that I'm not interested," he said. "I want to go abroad as I have outgrown the league.
"I noticed this year that I am sometimes a little too easy going down, then you make mistakes. I want to be tested every week."
