Sanharib Malki scored twice in the first half as Roda JC prevailed 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller over NAC Breda in Kerkrade.
Malki and Laurent Delorge put the hosts 2-0 up and further goals from Malki and Ruud Vormer ensured they always remained in control despite a brave fight from NAC Breda.
Omer Bayram, Nemanja Gudelj and Alex Schalk scored for the visitors, but they still slipped to a fifth defeat in their opening eight games of the Eredivisie campaign.
Roda opened the scoring when Jimmy Hempte's cross was headed goalwards by Mads Junker, and though his effort was saved by Jelle ten Rouwelaar, Malki followed up to head home. It was 2-0 in the 27th minute when Delorge exchanged passes with Junker and finished low from 12 yards.
An unmarked Bayram pulled a goal back five minutes later after Roda were caught out by Anthony Lurling's quick free-kick, but Malki quickly restored the two-goal margin from the edge of the box after being picked out by Mitchell Donald.
NAC kept plugging away after the interval and, in the 54th minute, Schalk crossed for Gudelj to finish right-footed and make the score 3-2.
Ten Rouwelaar dived low to save Jimmy Hempte's free-kick in the 62nd minute and keep his side within one goal, but the repreive was short-lived as Vormer let fly a minute later to make it 4-2.
Donald almost killed the game off with 13 minutes remaining, but his 20-yard effort rebounded off the post. And Schalk set up for a nervy final ten minutes when he headed home Andreas Lasnik's free-kick, but Roda held on for a deserved win.
