A hat-trick by Bjorn Vleminckx gave NEC Nijmegen a 3-2 victory over Groningen in the Eredivisie tonight. Vleminckx gave the home side early control with two goals in the first 12 minutes, although Thomas Enevoldsen halved the deficit with 20 minutes remaining.
However, Vleminckx wrapped up his hat-trick in the 77th minute, rendering Koen Van de Laak's close-range effort in injury-time little more than consolation for the visitors - who would have gone level with leading duo Ajax and Roda JC with a victory.
Elsewhere, two goals in the space of three minutes at the start of the second half from Bas Dost and Mika Vayrynen gave Heerenveen victory over second from bottom VVV Venlo. Dost opened the scoring in the 50th minute and Vayrynen doubled the advantage, before the visitors had Jorge Chula sent off for a second yellow card.
Goals from Youssouf Hersi and Glynor Plet cancelled each other out as De Graafschap and Heracles fought out an entertaining 1-1 draw at De Vijverberg. Hersi got the ball rolling after quarter of an hour with a calm finish before Heracles drew level eight minutes into the second half courtesy of Plet's midriff.
