Urawa beat Hiroshima, Yokohama edge Shonan

Former Japan international striker Shinzo Koroki scored a brace to help Urawa Red Diamonds beat J.League leaders and defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-1 on Saturday.

Koroki nodded home a pass from Yosuke Kashiwagi in the fifth minute and, after Genki Haraguchi put Urawa two up, fired a left-footer from close range in the 55th minute.

Hiroshima gained a consolation goal through Hiroki Mizumoto in injury time.

The loss leaves Hiroshima on 39 points, just one ahead of second place Yokohama Marinos, followed by Urawa on 37, Omiya Ardija on 36 and Kashima Antlers with 32.

Brazilian striker Marquinhos scored twice to lead Yokohama to a 2-1 win over Shonan Bellmare, while seven-time champions Kashima beat Omiya 1-0, with Yasushi Endo scoring the only goal in the 50th minute.

In other games, FC Tokyo blanked Oita Trinita 2-0, Nagoya Grampus defeated Jubilo Iwata 3-2, while Vegalta Sendai outclassed Kawasaki Frontale 2-1 thanks to Toshihiro Matsushita's decider in the 78th minute.

Albirex Niigata whipped Shimizu S-Pulse 3-1, Kashiwa Reysol downed Sagan Tosu 2-1, and Ventforet Kofu defeated Cerezo Osaka 1-0.
