Naoki Ishihara scored a hat-trick to give defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima a 3-1 win over Omiya Ardija in a top-of-the-table battle in the J.League.
Ishihara scored just three minutes after the kick-off when Satoru Yamagishi sent a pass for his header from 11 metres.
After Daigo Watanabe evened the score in the 74th minute, Ishihara again nodded home from close range off a pass from Yojiro Takahagi in the 81st minute.
He completed the hat-trick in injury time while Omiya were reduced to ten players, after Shin Kanazawa was sent off for a foul in the 84th minute.
Hiroshima now have 39 points from 12 wins, three draws and three defeats, taking them three points above Omiya.
In third place are Yokohama Marinos on 35 points, who conceded an own goal in the 89th minute to draw with Kashiwa Reysol 1-1. Urawa Red Diamonds trail them on 34 points, followed by Cerezo Osaka on 30.
Ryota Moriwaki scored a decider in injury time to give Urawa a 2-1 win over Jubilo Iwata, while Osaka went down to Albirex Niigata 0-1.
In other games, Shonan Bellmare escaped the relegation zone by beating Kawasaki Frontale 2-1, Vegalta Sendai defeated Ventforet Kofu 1-0 and FC Tokyo and Shimizu S-Pulse played out a goalless draw.
Australian international striker Joshua Kennedy scored a brace to help Nagoya Grampus beat Kashima Antlers 3-1, while Sagan Tosu defeated Oita Trinita 3-2.
