J.League leaders Omiya Ardija fired in two goals in four minutes to beat Nagoya Grampus 2-1, stretching their lead to five points over Urawa Red Diamonds on Wednesday.
After Naoshi Nakamura gave Nagoya a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, Takuya Aoki set up Slovenian striker Milivoje Novakovic who slotted home just after the hour mark with Yui Hasegawa scoring shortly after.
Omiya have now 36 points, followed by Urawa on 31, defending champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima on 30, and Yokohama Marinos and Kashima Antlers on 28 points apiece.
FC Tokyo put away goals early in each half, but Urawa's Shinzo Koroki and Genki Haraguchi each scored in the last nine minutes of the game to secure a draw. Japan international striker Hisato Sato scored a hat-trick to lead Hiroshima to a comfortable 4-2 victory over Kawasaki Frontale.
Kashima came back from a goal down to beat Shimizu S-Pulse 3-1, while Yokohama lost to Cerezo Osaka 2-1.
In the other games Kashiwa Reysol defeated Shonan Bellmare, Jubilo Iwata downed Albirex Niigata and Sagan Tosu outclassed Ventforet Kofu, all ending with 2-1 scorelines. Vegalta Sendai defeated Oita Trinita 1-0.
