Daigo Watanabe scored one goal and assisted another to lead J.League leaders Omiya Ardija to a 2-1 win over Shonan Bellmare on Saturday as they stretched the lead in the standings. Watanabe sent a cross to the centre, where Slovenian international striker Zlatan Ljubijankic fired home from close range to open the scoring in the 15th minute.
After Kazunari Ono made it 1-1 in the 18th minute, Omiya connected five passes for Watanabe's decider in the 81st minute. Omiya stretched the lead in the standings to five points as second-placed Yokohama Marinos were held to a scoreless draw by Vegalta Sendai.
They were followed by Urawa Red Diamonds on 23 points, Kashima Antlers on 22 points, Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Cerezo Osaka on 20 points, and FC Tokyo on 19 points.
Urawa thrashed Sagan Tosu 6-2, seven-time champions Kashima Antlers ran out 3-1 winners over Nagoya Grampus, defending champions Hiroshima overwhelmed Ventforet Kofu 5-1 with Japan international Hisato Sato scoring a hat-trick.
FC Tokyo defeated Shimizu S-Pulse 2-0, while Cerezo Osaka defeated Kashiwa Reysol 3-1. Elsewhere, Oita Trinita finally posted their first win of the season by beating Albirex Niigata 3-2, and Kawasaki Frontale downed Jubilo Iwata 4-2.
