Yamagata, Kofu remain in trouble

Montedio Yamagata remain one place off the bottom of the table despite a winning performance today, while a loss for Ventforet Kofu also saw them stuck in the relegation zone.

Newly-signed striker Masato Yamazaki needed less than two minutes to give Yamagata the lead in their 1-0 away win over Urawa Red Diamonds, who made too many passing errors.

Meanwhile, Kofu crashed to a 2-1 defeat at home to Vegalta Sendai, and remain third bottom in the standings.

Yoshiaki Ota and Shingo Akamine put the visitors two up before Mike Havenaar pulled one back with a header in the 83rd minute.

In the day's other game, Kawasaki Frontale lost 3-0 against Vissel Kobe, with Takayuki Yoshida, Park Kang-Jo and Yoshito Okubo on the scoresheet.
