Urawa Red Diamonds have revealed that their Brazilian striker Edmilson has signed for Qatar's Al Gharafa, bringing the curtain down on a successful J.League career.
Urawa said late yesterday that they had received an offer from Al Gharafa and reached an agreement on the player's transfer.
The 28-year-old forward, who has scored 109 goals in 226 games in the J.League since his 2004 debut, will fly to Qatar on Sunday and is expected to sign a three-year contract after undergoing a medical.
Edmilson joined J.League side Albirex Niigata in 2004 before moving to Urawa in 2008.
"My life continues. I want to keep going forward. I will be glad if I can play against Urawa in the AFC Champions League someday," Edmilson was quoted as saying by sports daily Nikkan Sports.
