Asian champions Gamba Osaka shrugged off the challenges of a busy schedule to defeat Montedio Yamagata 2-1 to climb to second in the J-League.
Korea Republic midfielder Kim Byung-Suk broke the deadlock shortly before the break to put Yamagata in front.
However, Gamba levelled the scores when midfielder Yasuhito Endo fired home in the 71st minute, with Brazilian forward Leandro scoring the winner 12 minutes from time.
Gamba, bidding to retain their AFC Champions League title, are second in the J-League on 10 points, level Montedio, and trail defending champions Kashima Antlers by two points.
Gamba, who lost their J-League game against Omiya Ardija last weekend, face Indonesian side Sriwijaya in the Champions League next Tuesday.
