Bastos reunited with Garcia at Roma

Brazil international midfielder Michel Bastos will play under coach Rudi Garcia for a second time after he signed on loan for Serie A title-chasers Roma from United Arab Emirates outfit Al-Ain.

The 30-year-old, capped ten times including all five games at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ where then coach Dunga selected him at left-back rather than his preferred position, cost the Italian club €1.1m to take him on loan, while they have the option to buy him outright for €3.5m at the end of the season.

Bastos, who played under Garcia at Ligue 1 side Lille from 2007-09 before moving to rivals Lyon, is Roma's second signing during the transfer window as they seek to haul back table-topping Juventus, who have an eight point lead over them.

While they sold American international midfielder Michael Bradley to Major League Soccer side Toronto FC for €7.4m earlier this month they also captured Belgium international Radja Nainggolan from fellow Serie A team Cagliari on loan.
