Roma captain Francesco Totti on Friday signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until he is 40. "I thank the club for giving me the possibility of wearing the shirt that I have always loved and supported," said Totti, whose new two-year contract ties him at the Serie A side until 2016.
Totti, who has played at Roma all of his career, has scored 228 goals in Serie A. Only Silvio Piola, with 274 goals, has scored more.
Totti, a member of Italy's 2006 FIFA World Cup™ winning squad, has scored at least once in all of the last 20 seasons.
Roma currently share the lead at the top of Serie A with three wins in their opening three matches ahead of Sunday's derby with city rivals Lazio.
