Catania midfielder Sergio Almiron has signed a one-year contract extension with the Serie A club.
The 32-year-old Argentinian has scored eight goals in 62 league appearances for the Sicilians since leaving Bari in 2011, and his contribution towards an eighth-placed finish in Serie A last season has earned him another campaign at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.
His current deal was set to expire next summer, but the club today confirmed he will remain on the island through June 2015.
A statement published on ilcalciocatania.it read: "I'd already talked about an extension with the management a few weeks after the end of the season and, despite things slowing down a bit, I always wanted to stay.
"I plan to make myself available to some of the younger players and help their development. We will all try to do better than we did last year, to improve and to reach new heights."
Rosario-born Almiron can also name Juventus, Udinese and Newell's Old Boys among his former clubs.
