Antonio Cassano has added to Inter Milan's injury woes after the Serie A giants confirmed the striker has suffered a hamstring tear which could end his season.
Cassano limped off during Inter's shock 4-3 home reverse to Atalanta on Sunday, a result which left Andrea Stramaccioni's men eight points off the third and final possible qualifying spot for the UEFA Champions League.
After undergoing scans on Monday, Cassano was diagnosed with a grade two hamstring tear according to Inter.
The injury is expected to sideline the striker for 30-40 days.
Inter have seven matches in which to close in on their target of at least a third place finish.
However with Rodrigo Palacio recently joining Argentine compatriot and fellow striker Diego Milito on the injury sidelines, that objective now looks compromised.
Inter currently lie sixth on 50 points, 21 adrift of leaders and champions Juventus and eight behind city rivals AC Milan in third.
