Napoli defeated Siena 2-0 today to reach the Italian Cup final on a 3-2 aggregate and will face Juventus in the 20 May final where they will look to end their 22-year wait for silverware.
Fired-up by their UEFA Champions League exit to Chelsea, Napoli went ahead after just 11 minutes through an own goal from Simone Vergassola.
Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani added the second in the 31st minute after a swift counter-attack sparked by Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik.
"I am happy to be in the final and to have a place in a European tournament," said Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri. "But I am worried for the rest of the season. The team is tired, you could see that tonight and we have probably lost Christian Maggio (who picked up an injury) at a crucial time."
On Tuesday, Mirko Vucinic's extra-time strike sent Juventus into their first Italian Cup final since 2004 following a 2-2 draw with AC Milan, giving them a 4-3 aggregate victory. Milan had forced extra-time by leading 2-1 after 90 minutes but ultimately paid for their semi-final, first leg defeat at home last month.
