AC Milan's Brazilian star Ronaldinho has been ruled of the weekend's four-team Emirates Cup in London because of a muscle strain in his left leg, the Italian side announced on Thursday.
The 30-year-old former Barcelona winger was hurt in training and will rest for seven days. AC Milan join hosts Arsenal, Lyon and Celtic in the Emirates Cup pre-season event, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
"AC Milan can announce that Ronaldinho suffered a left hamstring strain," the club said in a statement. "The player will not be available for the Emirates Cup matches and will miss around seven days."
Ronaldinho has recently committed his future to Milan after another summer of speculation. Milan will now expect him to be fit for their opening Serie A match at home to Lecce on 29 August.
