Hoffenheim midfielder Boris Vukcevic has not given up hope of one day playing football again following his near-fatal car accident.
The 24-year-old is still recovering from the September 2012 crash, which left him in a coma for almost two months. On Sunday, he returned to the Rhein-Neckar Arena for the first time to see his team-mates beat Augsburg 2-0, and he spoke of his dream of joining them back on the field again.
"It is my biggest wish to be able to play football again," said the former Germany Under-21 international, who crashed his car while on the way to training after losing consciousness due to a drop in his blood-sugar levels. "That is what I am working towards. I was delighted to be back in the stadium. It was very exciting and it's great that the lads won."
Vukcevic visited his team-mates for the first time since the accident earlier this month, but he did not see them prior to Sunday's game. "I did not want to distract them," he said on Sport1.
