Bundesliga side Werder Bremen today announced the signature of Argentinian left-back Santiago Garcia on loan for a year from Chilean side Rangers with an option to buy.
"We have reached an agreement between all parties, including Santiago's previous club Palermo," said Werder manager Thomas Eichin. "We are looking forward to having a new dynamic leader in the team."
Garcia, who trained with Bremen today, had his contract with Palermo ended prematurely due a problem with fans. The 25-year-old, who also has Italian citizenship, played 56 times in Serie A for Palermo and Novara, where he spent a season on loan.
Having won their first two Bundesliga games this season under new coach Robin Dutt, Bremen lost their next two to leave them ninth in the league.
