Hannover sign Marcelo from PSV

Bundesliga side Hannover 96 have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Marcelo from PSV on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Having also played for Poland's Wisla Krakow and Brazil's Santos in his career, the 26-year-old is expected to train with Hannover for the first time on Tuesday. "In Marcelo, we have a high-quality option at centre-back and he also brings plenty of international experience in both the Europa League and from Champions League qualifiers," said Hanover sports director Dirk Dufner.

Marcelo, whose full name is Marcelo Antonio Guedes Filho, has played for Brazil Under-20s and made 139 appearances for Eindhoven in the last three years, scoring eight goals, and was part of the team which won the Dutch league in 2011/2012.

He is Hannover's third new signing after midfielder Edgar Prib from German second division side Greuther Fuerth and Senegalese defender Salif Sane from French club AS Nancy.
