Hamburg captain Heiko Westermann said a huge weight had been lifted from his team's shoulders following last night's 2-1 win over Stuttgart.
Hamburg's first win of the season took them off the foot of the Bundesliga table and gave them something to celebrate for the first time this campaign.
"Everybody is relieved," admitted Westermann on the club's website. "This shows that we can still win, and do so against a side who are in good form too.
"Consequently, a huge weight has been lifted. With six games without a win, it was hard to defend ourselves, but this win now confirms our work. I hope that this key game will now be the turning point. We played with more courage."
Key to the victory could also have been the change of coach, with Michael Oenning fired on Monday and Rodolfo Cardoso taking over, albeit only on an interim basis.
"The team gave the answer on the field," said the coaching debutant. "They coped with the situation well."
