Argentinian midfielder Javier Pinola was today banned for four games by the German Football Federation (DFB) for spitting at Germany star Bastian Schweinsteiger during a Bundesliga match.
Nurnberg midfielder Pinola spat at the Bayern Munich player during an incident when the pair clashed in the 43rd minute of Bayern's 3-0 win at Munich's Allianz Arena last Sunday.
The referee initially missed the incident, but a DFB disciplinary committee investigated the matter on Monday and announced their decision today.
The Argentinian was found guilty of 'extreme sporting misconduct' and he will miss the next four German league matches.
He will next be available for Nurnberg's game against Hanover on 18 December.
Pinola apologised by telephone to Schweinsteiger, who is set to captain Germany against Sweden tonight in a friendly, after the incident.
