Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov has signed a one-year extension with Monaco that will keep him at the club until the end of next season, the French Ligue 1 side have announced.
The former Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayer Leverkusen striker arrived in the principality in January from Fulham on an initial six-month deal to provide cover for injured Colombian forward Radamel Falcao.
Berbatov, 33, scored nine goals in 14 appearances for Monaco, who qualified for next season's UEFA Champions League after finishing second in the French top flight behind champions Paris Saint-Germain.
"With AS Monaco, Dimitar has demonstrated all his talent and has been able to bring his ability to the team on the pitch. He's a great player and we are proud to be able to have him for next season," said club vice-president Vadim Vasilyev.
