Nantes have signed centre-back Kian Hansen from Esbjerg and loaned the player back to the Danish club.
The French Ligue 1 club announced Hansen had passed medical checks on Friday before sealing the deal, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.
Nantes said in a statement on their official website: "The player Kian Hansen, his club Esbjerg and Nantes have reached agreement for the transfer of the Danish central defender."
Terms of the deal mean Hansen, 24, will effectively begin his Nantes career in the summer.
Nantes also struck a deadline-beating deal for striker Itay Schechter, bringing in the Israeli international from Hapoel Tel Aviv on an initial six-month loan.
The French club said in a statement confirming the signing of the 26-year-old that the deal "includes an option to buy for two further years".
