Ligue 1 side Nice have sacked out-of-contract coach Rene Marsiglia, despite his side defeating Lyon 4-3 on Sunday to stay in the top flight.
Marsiglia announced the news himself after meeting with club chairman Jean-Pierre Rivere, saying he was "hugely disappointed" with the decision. "I would have liked to have continued with my work here, it's a real body blow for me," he added.
Marsiglia took over as head coach at Nice in November and was charged with saving the French south coast outfit from the drop, which he finally managed to do with the win over Lyon.
A former player with the club before joining the coaching staff, Marsiglia said he did not know what he would do next and would decide after meeting top club officials.
