Paris Saint-Germain failed to reclaim top spot in Ligue 1 although a late equaliser from Guillaume Hoarau earned them a point in a 1-1 draw with Bordeaux. PSG had lost first place to Montpellier after they defeated Saint-Etienne 1-0 yesterday to go a point clear at the summit.
Cheick Diabate gave Bordeaux the lead after 77 minutes, but Hoarau earned PSG a share of the spoils with his goal four minutes later which sees the capital club remain behind Montpellier in the table on goal difference.
Ludovic Obraniak was just off target with a volley after nine minutes as Bordeaux started well, and the same player missed 14 minutes later after being set up by Diabate. Alex missed with a header as PSG took half an hour to carve out their first opening.
PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu went full stretch to save a low drive by Jaroslav Plasil after he had been found inside the area by a cross from Benoit Tremoulinas. Just before half-time Mariano had a shot on target which was kept out by Sirigu who ensured the game was still goalless at the break.
Mohamed Sissoko was on hand to clear as PSG threatened early in the second half, but Sirigu then had to be alert to block another effort from Mariano. Plasil saw his volley come back off the crossbar after he was set up by Nicolas Maurice-Belay and Bordeaux threatened again as the home defence deflected away an Obraniak shot following a cross from Tremoulinas.
With 13 minutes to go Bordeaux finally broke the deadlock as Obraniak and Maurice-Belay combined to set up Diabate who beat Sirigu from inside the area.
PSG were level shortly after as Mathieu Bodmer found Hoarau inside the area with his back to goal and he turned before shooting past Cedric Carrasso. PSG were grateful for Sirigu who denied the visitors a late winner as he saved a shot from Diabate.
