Jeremie Aliadiere has been handed a chance to resurrect his career by FC Lorient, signing a one-year deal with an option to extend it to three.
The former France U-21 international was once hotly tipped for a big future, but struggled after failing to break through at Arsenal, and spent last season without a club having been released by Middlesbrough last summer.
He trained with Arsenal's reserves towards the latter half of last season and Lorient have now snapped up the 28-year-old, who is eager to return to the professional ranks.
"I have not set targets for this season," he told the club's website. "I am just happy to be back with a club because the last season was quite difficult. I must prepare well and make sure I am in shape physically. I am delighted to sign here. I am really motivated to return to France and to prove myself here."
