Bedouet becomes Bordeaux caretaker

Bordeaux assistant coach Eric Bedouet will take charge of the French first division side for the last four games of the season following yesterday's shock departure of Jean Tigana, the club have announced.

Former France international Tigana quit in the wake of a 4-0 drubbing by Sochaux, during which his teenage daughter was verbally abused in the stands.

Tigana replaced Laurent Blanc last summer but has been unable to keep touch with the Ligue 1 elite, who are 12 points short of the UEFA Champions League places.

Bedouet, 57, has already taken charge of two matches for Bordeaux, in May 2005 when former coach Michel Pavon fell ill.
